About Stephanie Sonntag, CMHC
Therapy, for Stephanie, isn’t just professional — it’s personal. As a Clinical Psychotherapist and someone whose own life has been shaped by the power of good mental health care, she knows firsthand how transformative the right support can be.
Stephanie Sonntag, CMHC, is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Kaysville, Utah. She earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Westminster College and centers her practice on EMDR and trauma work — helping people who feel stuck in negative thoughts and behaviors finally feel like themselves again. She also works with women’s issues, OCD, anxiety, depression, and grief, and draws on Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients understand and befriend every part of themselves.
She holds a special place for women healing from domestic violence and narcissistic or emotional abuse — offering a safe, confidential space to rebuild. Her approach is warm, collaborative, and evidence-based: she starts with your goals and builds a relationship where your nervous system can settle and real healing can happen.
Stephanie also founded NextTherapist, a platform born from the question she hears most: “Who should I see?” It exists to help people find the right therapist and remove the barriers to timely care.

Approaches I draw on
- EMDR — Reprocesses distressing memories so trauma loses its charge.
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) — Make room for hard feelings and act on your values.
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) — Calm the nervous system and interrupt spirals.
- Attachment-based therapy — Understand relationship patterns and build security.
- Psychodynamic & relational — Connect present struggles to their deeper roots.
- Trauma-informed & integrative — Safe, paced care tailored to you — not one-size-fits-all.
