Frequently asked questions

What is a CMHC — are you a licensed therapist?

Yes. Stephanie is a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC) in Utah — an independently licensed clinical psychotherapist who holds a Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Westminster College. She provides evidence-based therapy, including EMDR, to clients in person in Kaysville and by telehealth across Utah.

Do you offer online (telehealth) therapy?

Yes. Stephanie sees clients in person in Kaysville, Utah and by secure telehealth for anyone located in Utah. Many clients choose online sessions for convenience and consistency.

What areas do you serve?

In person from Kaysville (Davis County) and online across all of Utah — including Salt Lake City, Davis, and Weber County. If you live in Utah, you can work with Stephanie by telehealth.

What does a session cost, and do you take insurance?

Sessions are $110. Insurance and payment details are confirmed at your first contact — reach out and Stephanie will walk you through options, including private pay and any out-of-network superbills.

What is EMDR, and does it hurt to do?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a well-researched therapy that helps your brain reprocess distressing memories so they stop feeling so raw. You don’t have to relive every detail or talk through everything — the work is paced to stay within what feels safe, and many people find real relief from anxiety, trauma, and stuck feelings.

Do you work with teens?

Yes. Stephanie works with adults, teens, and children, and supports families. With teens she focuses on building trust and real coping skills, involving parents appropriately while protecting the teen’s confidence.

I’m pregnant or newly postpartum and struggling — can therapy help?

Absolutely. Perinatal and postpartum mental health is one of Stephanie’s focus areas. Anxiety, intrusive thoughts, mood changes, and birth trauma are common and very treatable, and she offers a steady, judgment-free space to work through them.

I think I’m in — or leaving — an abusive relationship. Can you help?

Yes. Stephanie works with many women healing from domestic violence and narcissistic or emotional abuse, whether they’re still in the relationship, recently out, or years past and still carrying it. Therapy is a confidential, judgment-free space to rebuild safety, self-trust, and boundaries at a pace you set. If you’re in immediate danger, please also reach the National Domestic Violence Hotline any time at 1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788 — free, confidential, and available 24/7.

What is NextTherapist, and how can it help me find a therapist?

NextTherapist (nexttherapist.com) is a platform Stephanie founded to help people find the right therapist quickly, instead of cold-calling dozens of offices. You share a little about what you’re looking for and get matched with vetted therapists who fit your needs, location, and budget — removing the barriers that keep people from timely care.

Why did Stephanie found NextTherapist?

Because the question she heard most often was simply, “Who should I see?” Stephanie saw how hard it is to find the right therapist — long waitlists, unanswered calls, not knowing who specializes in what — and how many people give up before they ever get help. She built NextTherapist to close that gap, so finding good care is faster, clearer, and less lonely. It’s the same belief that drives her own practice: everyone deserves the right support.

How do I get started?

Reach out through the contact page — send a short note using the form and Stephanie will respond to set up a first appointment or a brief consultation. You can also get matched with the right therapist through NextTherapist, the platform Stephanie founded.
